John Abel-Pattinson



John is responsible for the strategic direction, acquisitions and new business initiatives for the Group. Since 2007, John has driven the company’s growth from a start-up into a multi-disciplinary tourism, real estate and retail business. He is currently using his significant international experience to expand Blackstone’s services in Australia and the South Pacific.

John has extensive experience in both the hospitality and commercial property sectors with:

Development and operational implementation of new hotels for local brands and international brands including Hilton, Hyatt and Accor. He has led development teams on the complete turn-key provision of hotels including site selection, feasibility, budgeting, design, operational establishment and delivery.

Shopping Centres, Apartments and Integrated Projects
John has led the delivery of complex multi-use and multi-unit properties from conception to delivery, including leading sales and leasing teams throughout Australasia and South East Asia.

Property and Project Management
John has provided strategic management services gained from a property and project management career that has included the direct management of large scale residential, office, retail and significant integrated projects in New Zealand and South East Asia.

John is a member of numerous professional bodies including the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors and the New Zealand Institute of Directors.

John's other interests include a range of personal and professional company directorships, strategic roles with selected clients with complex property projects and he is involved in a number of pro-bono professional, social and charitable initiatives.
